The team from Russia , a mixed team, was the winner of the 2008 International Final.

Russia joined this competition of strategy and management just 3 years ago and this is their first international victory.

"We had the honour to present our country in the world's largest strategy and management competition - Global Management Challenge. Our way to Portugal was neither short nor easy. We have started our career in GMC three years ago, qualified to finals of national competitions several times and defeated many strong teams. So, we realized our responsibility in full measure to present our country at the GMC International final and did there our very best. Fortunately, our experience with the simulator and good knowledge of economics, management, statistics and IT as well as strong will to win were enough to justify ours and our colleagues' hopes. Yeah, we did it!

And we are very proud that it happened in the 30th anniversary of the Global Management Challenge and in its birthplace - Lisbon, the heart of marvelous Portugal!
The winners announcement at the gala dinner was like a dream: we still can't believe that we left behind all our opponents: they were actually very strong, especially the
Polish team. But now they are all our friends!

We are glad that our career in GMC ends up in this way. But we are a little bit envious to beginners, those who just start their way in GMC.
This is a way of bitterness of defeat and gladness of victory, incredible efforts and adrenaline, drive and glory.  Play it and enjoy it! See you all next year in Russia!" - Winning Team

In second place was Poland and in third Finland, their first participation.
Portugal was represented by a team of young managers from Qimonda and took 8th place.

Besides the countries stated the following teams competed for the world title:

Angola, Australia, Belarus, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Italy, Latvia, Macao, México, P.R.China, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom.

The organisation of this International Final – the XXVI edition - was organised by SDG , in Lisbon, Portugal.
