International Final - 2006
On the 24th and 25th of April, Macau hosted, the International Final of the Global Management Challenge 2006 edition.The team from Czech Republic was the winner of this final.

A total of 24 countries competed, in the largest International Final ever.

Joining Brazil, Bolivia, México, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Poland, Romania, Greece, Slovakia, Czech Republic, People’s Republic of China , Macau, India, Singapore & Hong Kong, are five new countries that in 2006 started this strategic and management competition: Ukraine, United Kingdom, Denmark, Russia and Angola.

The organization of this International Final- the XXIV International Edition- was provided by SDG and the Macau Management Association, jointly responsible for the promotion of the Global Management Challenge in Macau for the third time and also hosting all the participants in the final round in Macau for the third time. Previous finals in Macau were held in 1999 and 2003.

The final was organized over two days. In the first day teams were divided in four groups competing to be the top two teams of each group, thereby selected for the second day 8 team final.

Angola, Brazil, Bolivia, Denmark, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Macau, Mexico, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine and United Kingdom did not succeed and were therefore out of the race for the world title.

FINAL RESULTS

In the Final, the following teams were present: Belgium, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Poland, Portugal and Russia. In the end, Czech Republic won the competition. “It was not easy to win, we had unexpected situations and it was necessary to correct them straight away”, said Ladislav Krall – one of the five members of the Czech team -, during the Prize Award ceremony that was held in the Macau Tower. This was the second victory for Czech Republic after winning 2001 edition which was their first participation in the competition.

Once again the Polish team came in second place after being international winners in 2004 edition and in third place was China which last year was the winner.

PRIZES:

Besides the prizes awarded to the winning team and participation awards given to the remaining teams, the International Organisation distinguished Accenture as “International Sponsor of the Year”. This award was given for outstanding contribution to the international development of the Global Management Challenge to Luis Pereira, vice-president of Accenture.
